Broad Institute announces layoffs, largely in IT, software engineering

The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, one of the outstanding biotech analysis facilities on the earth, has laid off 87 workers, a spokesperson confirmed.

The layoffs got here as a profitable partnership with Microsoft was anticipated to conclude on the finish of the 12 months.

In an e mail to workers Thursday, Todd Golub, the Broad’s director, attributed the cuts to the “fast tempo of technological and scientific change [which] requires us to retool to remain forward” within the institute’s area.
