Balsa and Paulownia are the lightest and softest timber used commercially. It displays an unusually excessive diploma of buoyancy and supplies very environment friendly insulation in opposition to warmth and sound.
Balsa bushes develop naturally within the humid rain forests of Central and South America. The Balsa wooden’s lightness is attributed to the truth that it is cells are large and really skinny walled to the extent that the ratio of strong matter to open house is as small as doable. Most woods have gobs of heavy, plastic-like cement, known as lignin, holding the cells collectively. In Balsa, lignin is at a minimal. Solely about 40% of the amount of a bit of Balsa is strong substance.

Anyone that thinks those pieces are light is crazy. Balsa wood when it's fresh and wet is very heavy. It's a giant sponge for water. It isn't light until it's dried out. Those guys are beasts. Give them credit.

So just plant and grow like anything else…13 minute for that.

Here in Brazil it is very common where it is used to make simple braces, but there was a time when a lot of shoes were made with this typical Brazilian wood!

日本だと十分に乾燥させてから、板に加工するけど・・。そりが出て無駄が多そう。
i've used balsa wood since 1950 for my model airplanes. since balsa is so expensive, i now use foam board instead . love balsa though. didn't know it grew so fast and beautifully. thanks for the video !
